Former Texas Representative Beto O’Rourke announces he will run for president in the upcoming 2020 election.
O’Rourke announced his decision via video post on Thursday saying he “seeks to unite a divided country” through his journey to the presidency.
I am running to serve you as the next president. The challenges we face are the greatest in living memory. No one person can meet them on their own. Only this country can do that, and only if we build a movement that includes all of us. Say you’re in: https://t.co/EKLdkVET2u pic.twitter.com/lainXyvG2n

He went on to clarify he hopes to travel the U.S. in hopes of resonating with those he wishes to serve.
O’Rourke is best known for losing his Senate bid to incumbent Senator Ted Cruz during the 2018 midterm election cycle.
President Trump has slammed O’Rourke when rumors circulated about a possible presidential bid calling him a “flake” and “lightweight.”
Beto O’Rourke is a total lightweight compared to Ted Cruz, and he comes nowhere near representing the values and desires of the people of the Great State of Texas. He will never be allowed to turn Texas into Venezuela!

O’Rourke is scheduled to be in Iowa for a series of political events on Thursday.
An event will be held in El Paso on March 30 to officially kick off his campaign.
