Chinese economic growth suffered in 2018, growing at its slowest pace since 1990 according to Reuters.
Chinese officials made the announcement Monday saying the economy’s overall growth rate was measured at 6.6%.
According to the report, the third quarter growth rate was 6.5% and fourth quarter was measured at 6.4%.
Analysts attribute the lack of economic growth to decreased demand and an ongoing trade war with the U.S.
This announcement comes after Washington and Beijing concluded trade talks ahead of the March deadline.
The White House has made it clear it will spike tariffs 15% on $200 billion of Chinese products if no deal is reached.
