POTUS: Less Than 50-50 Chance Of Accepting Lawmakers’ Border Security Deal

President Trump says the chances of accepting a border security deal negotiated by lawmakers is less than 50-50.

The president made the remarks during an interview Sunday also saying, “you have a lot of very good people on that board.”

He continued by suggesting another government shutdown could be a possibility.

This comes as Congress continues to negotiate a border security package in hopes of reaching an agreement by the deadline on February 15.

President Trump took to twitter over the weekend to emphasize the strain illegal immigration puts on the U.S. economy, which he cited as a nearly $19 billion cost just this year.

On Friday, President Trump signed a bill which temporarily opened the government for 21 days giving lawmakers a chance to reach a deal on border security.

President Trump suggested at the end of his speech he would not hesitate to issue an emergency declaration to receive the $5.7 billion he has requested for the border wall.
