Pres. Trump Announces Release Of American Held Captive In Yemen

President Trump announces he secured the release of an American held hostage in Yemen for 18 months.

The president made the announcement via twitter on Monday saying Danny Burch, a U.S. citizen, was reunited with his family.

President Trump continued by thanking the United Arab Emirates for its role in Burch’s release, and suggested the White House is always working to free American hostages held abroad.

The president also mentioned the Trump administration has secured the release of 20 Americans previously held captive since he took office.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo also took to twitter to thank the United Arab Emirates saying, “Safety is a top priority for the Trump administration.”

Burch was reportedly abducted in broad daylight in September 2017 by Houthi rebels near the Yemeni capital.
