President Trump voices his optimism for reaching a trade deal with China following months of heightened bilateral tension.
The president made the remarks during an interview which aired Friday, saying the negotiations will yield a final agreement will “probably happen.”
President Trump reiterated his main priority amid the trade talks is keeping an “America First” agenda.
The president has previously mentioned tariffs targeting Chinese products may stay in place, though this does not mean negotiations have been stalled.
American officials are expected to travel to Beijing in the coming days to continue negotiations.
