Bill Weld, former Republican governor of Massachusetts, declares he is officially launching a bid for the White House in 2020.
Weld announced he was running to defeat President Trump on Monday saying, “It is time to return to the principles of Lincoln – equality, dignity, and opportunity for all.”
Weld also took to twitter to release a highlight video of his term during office while blasting President Trump.
This comes just weeks after Weld announced he was launching an exploratory committee back in February.
Weld officially launched his bid just after the Trump campaign confirmed it had raised $30 million during the first quarter this year significantly surpassing top Democratic contenders.

Senior campaign adviser Lara Trump has made it clear the campaign is not worried about GOP challengers, citing the president’s immense popularity with Republicans.
