The nation’s Department of Homeland Security chief compares the current immigration crisis to a Category five hurricane as migrants continue to starve the agency of its resources.
Secretary Kirstjen Nielson made the remarks during an interview Tuesday saying the department is asking others to chip in the mediate the crisis.
Nielson went on to say more military resources are being allocated to the border crisis and she is in “constant contact” with Acting Secretary of Defense Patrick Shanahan.
Her remarks come just days after President Trump warned he would close the southern border if Mexico did not do more to cut down on illegal immigration.
The State Department also confirmed just days ago El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala would no longer receive American aid as migrant caravans continue to form.
