Former Vice President Joe Biden finally announces he is pursuing a bid for the White House in the 2020 election.
Biden made the announcement Thursday with a video on twitter saying he has entered the race because “our very democracy is at stake.”
The core values of this nation… our standing in the world… our very democracy…everything that has made America — America –is at stake. That’s why today I’m announcing my candidacy for President of the United States. #Joe2020 https://t.co/jzaQbyTEz3

The former vice president went on to take direct aim at President Trump claiming the core values of the U.S. are under attack.
Biden continued by slamming the president saying, “He will forever and fundamentally alter the character of this nation.”
President Trump pushed back on twitter following Biden’s announcement by welcoming him to the race and warning him he will be dealing with candidates promoting “sick” and “demented ideas.”
Welcome to the race Sleepy Joe. I only hope you have the intelligence, long in doubt, to wage a successful primary campaign. It will be nasty – you will be dealing with people who truly have some very sick & demented ideas. But if you make it, I will see you at the Starting Gate!

Former President Obama weighed in on the announcement saying choosing him as his running mate over ten years ago was “one of the best decisions he ever made,” but he did not endorse him in the race.
There are currently at least 20 democratic candidates who are running for president in the 2020 election.
