President Trump files suit to block a Democrat-backed subpoena authorized to obtain his financial information.
The president sued Democratic House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummingson Monday just days after he subpoenaed an accounting firm having some of his financial information.
According to the legal complaint, the president suggests Democratic lawmakers have “declared all-out political war” in the form of subpoenas.
The president’s legal counsel asks for the subpoena to be declared both “invalid and unenforceable.”
The suit also requests a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction which will prohibit the accounting firm from releasing his financial records.
Can you believe that I had to go through the worst and most corrupt political Witch Hunt in the history of the United States (No Collusion) when it was the “other side” that illegally created the diversionary & criminal event and even spied on my campaign? Disgraceful!

The subpoena was issued last week and aims to obtain a wide array of financial documents relating to his trust and other business dealings.
President Trump’s personal attorney, Jay Sekulow, has weighed in the move saying, “We will not allow Congressional Presidential Harassment to go unanswered.”
The president’s legal counsel has also suggested the subpoena does not have a “legitimate legislative purpose” overall.
