Members of the Trump family file suit against Deutsche Bank and Capital one after Congress issued subpoenas in an effort to gain access to financial records.
President Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and the Trump business sued late Monday to block Democratic lawmakers from obtaining financial records.
The lawsuit claims there is no reason Democrats need access to the financial information saying the Democrat-backed subpoenas “have no legitimate or lawful purpose.”
The filing goes on to suggest the subpoenas are partisan in nature and were authorized to “harass President Donald J. Trump” and “to rummage through every aspect of his personal finances.”

The lawsuit comes after Democrats issued subpoenas to both banks to uncover personal financial records earlier this month.
Democrats say they are concerned about potential foreign influence into American politics and corruption within the U.S. financial system.
The president has emphasized the Democrats are just pursuing an agenda of oversight and investigation heading into the 2020 election, instead of legislating.
