House Panel Subpoenas Rick Gates, Michael Flynn Over Russia Probe

The House Intelligence Committee issued subpoenas on Thursday for Rick Gates and Michael Flynn in connection with the completed Russia probe.

The House Intelligence Committee issued subpoenas for former national security adviser Michael Flynn and Trump campaign deputy Rick Gates in connection with the Russia probe.

The House panel issued the subpoenas for the officials on Thursday, citing the move as a part of the “oversight work” of the committee.

House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff released a statement saying, “the House Intelligence Committee is continuing to examine the deep counterintelligence concerns raised in Special Counsel Mueller’s report, and that requires speaking directly with the fact witnesses.”

Schiff continued by saying, “”Both Michael Flynn and Rick Gates were critical witnesses for Special Counsel Mueller’s investigation, but so far have refused to cooperate fully with Congress.”

The move comes after both Gates and Flynn pleaded guilty to charges brought by the Mueller probe, although none of the charges were related to collusion.

Both officials were reportedly very cooperative with special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.

His remarks come weeks after the probe was concluded, and the redacted version of the Mueller report has been made public.

This is the latest round of subpoenas issued by the Democrats in an effort to keep the Russia probe alive, despite its completion weeks ago.

Mueller has since stepped down from his position at the Department of Justice.
