Hurricane Dorian Could Become Category 4 as it Approaches Florida

Officials warn Hurricane Dorian could strengthen to a category 4 storm as Florida and Georgia residents brace for landfall expected over the weekend.

ORLANDO, Fla. —Dorian is now a Category 2 storm moving toward Florida and it is expected to strengthen into a major hurricane Friday as it moves over the warm, open waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

The National Hurricane Center said Dorian is expected to eventually strengthen into a potentially catastrophic Category 4 and slam into the U.S. on Tuesday somewhere between the Florida Keys and southern Georgia.
