President Trump praised new border wall construction in Southern California as he continues to work to secure American borders despite backlash from Democrats.
The president praised the new 14 miles of wall along the southern border during a Fox News interview which aired Thursday, clarifying it was not yet constructed as of two weeks ago.
President Trump made the remarks during his two-day California trip to raise money for his 2020 reelection bid.
President Trump continued, “This is all brand new wall … we’re building on many different sites all up and down the border.”
According to a report, border crossings have dropped 60% since May of this year as the president has continued his hardline stance in mitigating the growing influx of illegal immigration.
The interview aired just one day after the Republican National Committee announced it had raised a record-breaking $23.5 million raised during the month of August as the 2020 presidential race begins to heat up.
The RNC made the announcement on Wednesday saying the committee has the most money in the bank since September of 2016.
Fox first published that report late Tuesday saying the RNC has nearly $54 million cash on hand as President Trump continues to gain steam heading into the 2020 presidential election.
The $23.5 million only includes direct contributions to the RNC, and does not include money raised by the joint fundraising committees.
RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has recently praised the Democrats for the committee’s recent fundraising hauls suggesting they have reenergized voters with their faulty policies.
According to McDaniel, “The more Democrats demonize President Trump and his supporters, the more boots we can put on the ground to re-elect him. Between the President’s accomplishments and our grassroots infrastructure, Republicans are going to be unstoppable in 2020!”
Representatives for the RNC have clarified the money will go toward turning historically blue states red in the 2020 presidential election.
