Majorie Taylor Greene introduces bill to give Kyle Rittenhouse Congressional Gold Medal

U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., introduced a bill to give the recently acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse the highest honor that can be awarded by Congress – the Congressional Gold Medal.

Some recent recipients of the Medal include the officers who were at the Capitol on Jan. 6 and the 13 U.S. troops who were killed in Afghanistan this past summer. Other recipients include George Washington, Mother Teresa, and Neil Armstrong.

However, chances that the bill, to award the medal to Rittenhouse, will pass through the House are slim to none, as the Democrat-controlled House would have to also agree. After the acquittal, the verdict was criticized by Democrats and Biden said that the verdict made him and many Americans “angry and concerned.”

Republicans and Democrats have been fighting over the proper response to the not guilty verdict, some Republicans viewing him as a hero, and some Democrats viewing him as an enemy.

Some Republican House members have even started competing to see who can get Rittenhouse as a future intern in their congressional offices. Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., was the first to suggest it before the sentiment proceeded to break out amongst other members of the House GOP.

The young man met with President Donald Trump shortly after his verdict, where Trump said that Rittenhouse was “a fan, unlike the other guy.”

Kyle said in an interview with Fox News show host Tucker Carlson that he plans to attend college for nursing, although he is now interested in law after his experiences.
