GOP to demand House Democrats include Trump’s ‘Buy American’ policy in massive infrastructure bill

After 19 Senate Republicans signed onto the stunning $1 trillion infrastructure bill, the United States Senate passed it. Now, as the bill sits in the hands of the House, House GOP members are demanding that Pelosi add Buy American requirements to the bill so that key infrastructure projects will not be shipped to countries like China and India, according to a Breitbart exclusive.

The $1 trillion infrastructure bill passed by the Senate added to the $3.5 trillion budget bill that was proposed by the House Budget Committee will combine with a stunning total of $4.5 trillion for Biden’s Build Back Better infrastructure agenda.

In a letter obtained by Breitbart, the House Republicans responded calling it “unacceptable.”

H.R. 3684 allows federal agencies to bypass the requirement that “greater than 55% of the total costs of all components of the manufactured product” be manufactured in the United States. If federal agencies determine the buy-American requirement is “inconsistent with the public interest,” does not meet “satisfactory quality,” or that buying American will increase costs for the projects. These ambiguous standards in H.R. 3684 give these agencies a loophole to buy products from China or any other country they wish.

Eliminate this exception within The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and make this bill truly one that is Buy American.”

Republicans also claim that in the so-called infrastructure bill, there are provisions for $200 billion in spending for electronic manufacturing. China dominates the electronic manufacturing market, providing at least 90% of the world’s electronics. The House Republicans say that it is “inappropriate for hard-working Americans’ tax dollars to be spent on Chinese electronics for American infrastructure.”

Not only are there problems with not putting American interests first for the House GOP, this infrastructure bill also grants amnesty to illegal immigrants.

House Democrats say that reconciliation must be passed before they vote on this hefty bill. According to Heritage Foundation’s report, Speaker Pelosi said “We will not take up the infrastructure bill until the Senate passes the reconciliation measure.”

The budget is set to most likely be partisan, and will most likely even be divisive between progressive and moderate Democrats.
